A 3-day diet n’ detox to get you back on the slimming track.

It’s August and your resolve is beginning to wane.

You’re having trouble sticking to your diet. You are really frustrated that the scale is not moving southward as quickly and effortlessly as it once did. Maybe you celebrated a little too much for a special occasion or just got back from a “fattening” vacation with an additional 5 – 10 pounds.

You are on the lookout for a safe “emergency” strategy to lose that tummy in a hurry for an upcoming wedding or high school reunion. And you need almost overnight results. You’re not alone—thousands of people have asked me for help with this dilemma, and I have just the fix which has proven to be one of the most popular detox n’ diet programs ever.

I simply combined two of my most successful weight loss plans to come up with a special liquid flush with really fast results! With the Hot Metabolism Cocktail— the superstar formula of my Master Metabolism Cleanse— you’ll be cool as a cucumber while your metabolism heats up with lots of thermogenic spices, green veggies, and tomatoes. You’ll start to see a shrinking waist without sacrificing your health—like so many crash diets do—because you’ll also be consuming plenty of fiber, omega-3-rich oil, fruits, and hypoallergenic protein.

At the core of the plan is my special “cocktail with a kick” that you will be drinking three times per day: morning, noon, and night. The Hot Metabolism Cocktail, due to its high water content, helps you stay filled up and fuller longer while keeping calories low. For lunch and dinner, fruit-flushing smoothies with complimentary weight-regulating ingredients will help give your digestive system a rest while delivering long term appetite satisfaction and hydration.

Here’s what you need to get started:

Hot Metabolism Cocktail

Makes 1 serving

Ingredients:
1 large ripe tomato, or 8 ounces V8 or Knudsen’s Very Veggie Juice— for a boost of vitamins C and A, plus a trio of heart-healthy nutrients: potassium, vitamin B, and folate.

½ cup fresh squeezed lime or lemon juice— aids digestion by promoting absorption of protein and minerals, while helping to liquefy fat.

½ cup filtered water (unless using juice)— hydrate to keep kidneys and liver functioning, aiding in efficient elimination.

Handful of fresh parsley— more beta-carotene than carrots, more vitamin C than oranges, and twice as much iron as spinach.
Handful of fresh cilantro— gentle diuretic that helps remove heavy metals, like mercury, from the body.

1 green onion, chopped

1 clove garlic, crushed— stimulates the metabolism, stabilizes blood-sugar levels, and eliminates toxins from the body.

1/8 teaspoon cayenne (or as desired)— rich vitamin E content helps keep the heart healthy and strong, while concentration of capsicum fires up circulation and metabolic rate.

2 teaspoons olive oil— lowers cholesterol levels, maintain a healthy blood pressure and guard against toxins.

½ teaspoon Seaweed Gomasio— high source of quality protein, calcium, iron and a range of amino acids.

½ teaspoon Flora-Key— 5-strain probiotic formula for beneficial bacteria growth and a healthy GI tract.

1 tablespoon chia seeds— 2 times the protein of any other seed/grain, 8 times more omega-3s than salmon, and 3 times the antioxidant strength of blueberries.

6 ice cubes

Combine all ingredients in a blender until the desired consistency is reached.

Follow this daily menu for two to five days to melt off pounds in a hurry.

Breakfast: Hot Metabolism Cocktail
Lunch: Fat Flush Smoothie (Made from 1 scoop Fat Flush Body Protein, 8-ounces water, 1 cup fresh or frozen berries, 1 tablespoon flaxseed oil, 1 tablespoon flax seeds or chia seeds, and ice cubes, if you choose.)
Snack: Hot Metabolism Cocktail
Dinner: Fat Flush Smoothie
Before bedtime: Hot Metabolism Cocktail
Daily: Consume half your body weight in ounces of water (typically 10-12 8-ounce glasses).

By eliminating wheat, dairy, yeast, and salty, spicy or acidic seasonings you will actually trigger your body to release pounds of unnecessary fluid. Your plateau will be a thing of the past as your body purges accumulated fat and fluid from its tissues.

Think of it— a “revitalized you” is only three days away! And even better, once you resume your regular Fat Flushing diet principles and exercise regimen, you will maintain your slimming results for a summertime beach body that will look fabulous in the latest fall fashions.

Is there a variation of this detox for a nursing mom? Since we can’t do a low-calorie diet, even for a day, how can we detox without compromising milk supply?

Since phase 3 of Fat Flush is recommended for nursing mom’s, you could add this Hot Metabolism Cocktail to the food in that plan. Mainly for detoxing you want to stay away from dairy, wheat and anything artificial. So eating healthy protein, veggies, fruit and the HMC would work in your favor.

Just curious, when you say return to FF diet, which phase are you referencing? I need to detox again and had thought about going back on Phase 1 but if this can give me a jump start – would I then go to phase2?

If you wanted to do the HMC for 5 days and another week on phase 1, that would give you a good amount of time detoxing.

Whoah. Just reading this (while it sounds yummy) makes me feel full and bloated. Really? That much juice/smoothie?

It’s delicious, especially using a tomato instead of juice. I never felt too full or bloated at all. It’s very satisfying.

Do I make a smoothie of the ingredients with the 6 ice cubes? or is this something I blend, and then add ice cubes as in the pic in th site? How many ounces of this am I going to drink at one time? I am a bit afraid of the onion and the garlic, can I reduce the amounts? an onion of what size? Sorry for so many questions, but it sounds interesting and might be good for me to break the routine. Reading this article, I realize that I never leave phase I as I never do it fully or correctly, so I usually end up just using the smoothie as a breakfast!

Can I substitute tomato past for the tomato juice or fresh tomato. I have a severe sensitivity to fresh, canned or juiced tomatos. I have no reaction to processed tomato sauce and paste. I’d like to give this a try. Maybe there is a non tomato vegie that I could use.

Lourdes: Yes, you can make a smoothie with the ingredients listed above and add the ice cubes either in the mix or as the picture depicts. The smoothie is about 8 or 9 ounces (on one overflowing glass). You can reduce both the onion and the garlic – no worries. The cocktail is a great plateua buster and kick starter to a full fledged Fat Flush.

Melinda: Yes – you can use the tomato paste in light of your concerns. There is really not a non-tomato veggie that provides the proper taste factor that makes the HMC
    so very yummy! : 🙂

I don’t know about yummy. The sensitivity makes tomatos one of the most digusting smells to my nose (I’m sure it is a protective mechanism). I just want to make sure I get the proper nutrients to get the benefits of the cleanse. I will have to try this soon. Any suggestion on the amount that should be used. I don’t mind experimenting I was just wondering.

      Thanks for the reply.

Worried about all the acid, i tend to be very acidic.

I have many severe allergies to foods: eggs, sesame and stevia are are few of the worst reactions. I was unsuccessful with the smoothie shakedown because of the stevia. What can I substitute for the Seaweed Gomasio, since this is sesame based?
I am desperate to lose weight for my son’s wedding next month…help!

Toya: The 3 Day Cleanse is not part of the smoothie shakedown. It is used primarily as a plateua “buster.”

Mary: If you are worried about the acidity, reduce the tomato or tomato juice by 1/2 and add 1/4 – 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt. Sodium reduces acid quite nicely.

Jackie: In light of your allergies, we would omit the Gomasio and substitute with kelp granules.

Melinda: We would suggest that you consider several tablespoons of the tomato paste to begin.

For the hot metabolism cocktail, is it necessary to blend it? Can I serve it hot with chopped parsley & green onion sprinkled on top?

How long will the “cocktail” last in the refrigerator? Can you make a batch that will last the whole day or must it be made fresh each time?

    Reply
    • liz

You could make a batch to last all day. I really like to make it fresh each time. It has the maximum amount of active enzymes that way.

I’m going to try this, starting tomorrow before I go on a trip Thursday. Can you tell me what I should expect? Stomach cramps, etc. Also, what is the average weight loss in a three day span?

    Thanks!

    Reply
    • liz

I’ve never heard ot anyone experiencing stomach cramps or digestive problems. If you are very toxic you might have a little headache. The average weight loss depends on how much you have to lose. Some people lose 6 lbs. Most importantly it acts as a metabolism booster and helps you continue to lose weight.

On the fat flush smoothie, it says “1 tablespoon flaxseed oil, 1 tablespoon flax seeds or chia seeds, and ice cubes” and I am wondering if I use flaxseed oil and choose one of the types of seeds, or do I choose only 1 of the 3? For example, flaxseed oil and seed? Or just flaxseed oil and none of the other 2?
    Thanks!

    Reply
  15. Administrator

Karen: You can choose 1 tablespoon of the oil and either 1 tablespoon of the flax or chia seeds as well as ice cubes 🙂

Hi Angie! I print many of ALG’s blogs (it’s really handy to have the info on hand, isn’t it?). Usually by clicking “File” at the top of the computer screen, and then “Print” it prints with no problem. 🙂

Hi Angie, sorry you have been having trouble printing our blogs. Your suggestion to add a print button is great, we are working on that now. We have to install some new plugins to add this function, we should have it up and running soon.

Hi Dr. Ann. Is it allright to use frozen broccoli in place of the ice in the Hot Metabolism Coctail? And then spin it up in the blender to liquify it? I have done this for three days and weight hasn’t budged. …. today left out the broccoli. Thanks!

its hard to stay on this when you have friends wanting you to go out to dinner and the TV is full of fattening food ads. Even if I do it for breakfast and lunch then eat a carefully planned dinner,( no bad carbs) I feel like I’m being very mindful of my caloric intake
and thats the bottom line. Calorie restricted and work out with weights and a half hour cardio.

    Reply
  24. liz

You can still go out to dinner with your friends. You just have to order a meal that has the veggies, salad and 4 oz of protein. Ive done it many times.

Calories really aren’t the whole story. The specific foods and the glycemic index are also very important. Great that you are exercising!

There is no mention about supplments in this cleanse. Should you take the same ones as on the Fat Flush Plan?

    Reply
    • Sierra

Yes Bonnie, the Fat Flush Kit supplements will be great. You may also consider adding CLA-1000 to boost metabolism and jump-start fat burning.

For the morning cup of hot water and lemon, can I heat up a cup of the cranberry water mix? Or does it have to be straight purified water instead?

    Reply
  28. liz

Joyce: Flora-Key is a wonderful probiotic.I suggest getting that one, but you can use another probiotic if you have one on hand already.

Laura: The lemon is just in filtered water. It’s best for the enzymes in the cranwater to not heat it.

    Hi,

When is the best time to do this? I have a wedding on a Saturday & would like to loose a little bit off my belly for the day

Do I follow this plan for the 3 days before for the wedding or can I do it a little bit before hand and then continue with my healthy eating plan?

I don’t want to sound rude in asking but does the weight stay off (if you continue to eat healthy) or does it bounce back on in a couple of days?

    Thanks x

    Reply
    • liz

Usually you will lose a couple of pounds in the first day or two. You still have time to start before the wedding. As a cleanse it is good to do all three days, but anything helps.

It doesn’t bounce back but bodies respond differently when you start detoxing. I’m not sure what your diet usually is when you say healthy eating. If you are eating really clean foods you will have less to detox.
