I am sure you have all heard by now about the “groundbreaking” research published in the New England Journal of Medicine last week about brown fat and its tremendous impact on fat burning – without exercise. Yes, its true. There is such a fat called “brown fat” in your body which has a brownish color due to the little fat-burning factories called mitochondria, it contains. Unlike white fat, brown fat lies deeper, surrounding organs and running along the neck and spine. It is dormant in overweight individuals and highly active in those who are slim and trim. It is also the reason that hibernating animals can stay warm in the winter.

What the researchers failed to point out in the journal article, however, was that the discovery of brown fat – is not new at all. It was first brought to light in the 1980’s in relation to GLA-containing oils like evening primrose oil. Dr. David Horrobin of the University of Montreal stated that evening primrose oil, the only GLA-containing oil available commercially in the early 1980’s, had been found to create weight loss in individuals with metabolic weight loss problems in several studies. He considered evening primrose oil to be a safe, non-drug way to stimulate the body’s metabolic brown fat activity and burn off fat.

Horrobin gave 13 patients four capsules of evening primrose a day (approximately 360 mg of GLA) for six to eight weeks. Seven out of the 13 lost weight without dieting. They lost from 2 to 25 pounds in the study with the average weight loss about seven pounds or about a pound a week. Pretty impressive results from study participants who had tried every other weight loss method available – without success.

Today we have more well-rounded GLA-containing oils. My favorite is black currant seed oil, which also contains a balance of the inflammation-fighting Omega-3s. The GLA 90s when taken at a dose of two capsules, twice per day, can help to mobilize brown fat metabolism, which is probably the reason why so many Fat Flushers get over-night results with this supplement. It is part of the three-formula Fat Flush Kit available through UNI KEY and on this site.

GLA has been overlooked and neglected by researchers for decades. It is the most deficient essential fatty acid, according to omega blood test studies, in the land. GLA helps PMS go away; it corrects diabetic neuropathy’; it lowers blood pressure and keeps skin taunt while dieting. Dry eye syndrome has been connected with a GLA deficiency.

For a refresher course on this remarkable “unsung hero” of health and beauty, please refer to Beyond Pritikin and the initial couple of chapters of The Fat Flush Plan.

GLA is a natural aid to weight reduction for the chronically overweight or obese.

So there ….and you heard it first through Fat Flush.

Want to know more about GLA or brown fat? I will leave the thread open. GLA is a signature Fat Flushing staple 🙂

All the very best, gang!
