Your Diet Should Fit Your Lifestyle

There’s nothing like going on a diet to make you feel like you’re hungry all the time, right? It’s just human nature to want what we think we can’t have on a diet – calories and more food! I kept this in mind as part of the design of my new Radical Metabolism plan, and built snacks into the plan that fuel your metabolism and keep you burning fat and feeling satisfied all day long. With 3 meals and 3 “between meals,” you’ll be too busy eating and snacking your way to weight loss to feel hungry.

Did you know that during the mid-afternoon slump in energy that so many of us fall prey to, your metabolism also takes a hit? It’s true! And I’ve created a variety of what I call Metabolixirs you’ll drink every mid to late afternoon (and more often as desired) to wake you and your metabolism back up and super-charge your digestion. Spoiler alert: there’s coffee and chocolate involved – what’s better than iced coffee in the early afternoon to cool you down, fuel your metabolism, and keep you focused?

I’ll let you in on a little secret – I love to curl up on my couch after dinner and watch a movie – and who can watch a movie without snacking? Not me! Radical Metabolism has an after-dinner treat built-in just for people like us. You can enjoy a handful of pistachios or even indulge in a little dark chocolate while you catch up on your favorite series and wind down for the evening – while you lose weight.

Summertime is the Right Time for Snackin’

There’s no better time to get into a healthy routine than summer. The heat is a natural appetite suppressant, and we’re drawn to fresh fare and lighter cuisine. The variety of fresh veggies and fruits that are available are a feast for the eyes with all their bright colors – and a boost to your metabolism. It just seems natural this time of year to snack your way through the day, rather than sit down to a heavy meal.

Here are my “Favorite Five” Snack suggestions from my new Radical Metabolism plan, along with a sneak peek at one of my tasty new recipes:

  1. Greek yogurt with hemp hearts and fresh berries, jicama sticks on the side
  2. Celery sticks with cashew butter and ground toasted flax seeds
  3. Fresh pear or apple slices rolled in toasted flax seeds
  4. Roasted seaweeds snacks with plums
  5. Veggie sticks with Sunflower “Cheese” Dip
Sunflower “Cheese” Dip
Serves: 1.5 cups
With the consistency of a dairy cheese dip, this easy blend is so much tastier than anything you can buy! Delicious on fresh cut veggies, or thinned a bit for drizzling over a fresh green salad.
Ingredients
  • 2 cups raw sunflower seeds
  • 2 tablespoons pine nut oil
  • ¾ cup fresh dill
  • 2 tablespoons fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • ¾ cup filtered water, more as needed
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender and pulse until combined. Adjust the amount of water for the consistency you like.
  2. Refrigerate unused portions.

    Should we take the hemp seeds in the morning and then oil in the evening? How many seeds should we take at a time? Does it go by weight?

      Catherine, You can have the seeds and the oil at any time throughout the day. One tablespoon of hemp seeds per serving.

    8/22/18 I just pre-ordered your book today Radical Metabolism through Amazon and when I try to go into your website for the free gifts, it will not acknowledge it and only gives me a blank page(no matter how long I wait thinking the website is just busy). What can I do to qualify? After many years of hypothyroidism and weight gain, I am looking very forward to reading you new book.
