The “good” omega-6 that flushes fat, tightens and tones skin, and much more!

Since the 1980s, many studies have focused on the power of GLA, or gamma linolenic acid, to serve as a natural aid to weight loss. In fact, I first wrote about the fat-burning powers of GLA in my first book, Beyond Pritikin, published in 1988. Since then, the research has continued to stack up and GLA’s benefits have been proven time and time again.

Found naturally in seed oils, such as borage, evening primrose, and black currant seed oils, GLA is an omega-6 essential fatty acid, which triggers fat burning instead of fat storage by boosting the metabolism in two ways: First, it fuels the burning of brown adipose tissue, a type of fat commonly dormant in overweight people. This metabolically active brown fat burns many more calories than any other type of fat cells for faster, lasting weight loss. Second, it stimulates a metabolic process commonly referred to as the “sodium pump,” helping to use up nearly half of the body’s calories. Last but not least, this fatty acid boosts the production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that curbs carb cravings to help prevent excess intake of high-calorie comfort foods.

In a healthy body, GLA can be synthesized from linoleic acid, which is found in certain oils, grains, and seeds. But because of a number of common dietary and lifestyle factors in today’s society, most of our bodies don’t make that conversion. The main metabolic roadblocks are artificial trans fats, sugar, smoking, alcohol, aging, and illnesses such as diabetes. All of these factors affect the body’s ability to convert linoleic acid into GLA and efficiently burn fat.

Years ago, I used to suggest supplementing with primrose oil to optimize GLA levels. Today I’m hesitant because it can sometimes trigger breakthrough bleeding, as it appears to be somewhat estrogenic in some women. Instead, I recommend black currant seed oil because it has the best balance of beneficial ingredients—including omega 3s. I recommend taking 360 mg of GLA from black currant seed oil daily.

The benefits of GLA extend far beyond weight loss. It can also help with PMS symptoms, blood pressure, joint pain and much more. And what’s more, a steady supply of GLA helps skin retain its moisture and stay supple and smooth!

The Simple Way to Look and Feel Ageless with GLA

GLA (gamma linolenic acid) is one of the best nutrients to nourish skin from head to toe. This healthy fat prevents cellular membranes from drying out, keeping skin smooth and supple. What’s more, it can help soothe even severe skin conditions, such as eczema and psoriasis. In fact, Italian scientists found that supplementing with GLA cut participants’ eczema symptoms by as much as 90%.

To ensure your levels are topped up, I advise supplementing with GLA derived from black currant seed oil. Take four softgels of GLA-90 daily.

GLA-90

The secret to activating your brown fat and torching unwanted pounds is consuming more gamma linolenic acid (GLA). Studies show GLA not only helps you lose weight but it also keeps those unwanted pounds from coming back. What’s more, GLA also helps you feel full by raising your body’s serotonin levels.

Bottom line: If your weight loss has stalled, or if you consider yourself a “slow loser”, adding GLA to your diet can help you burn more calories and melt stubborn pounds. And that’s where GLA-90 enters the picture. GLA-90 floods your body with pure, high-quality GLA sourced from black currant seed oil that can wake up your body’s brown fat and speed up your slimdown.

I helped formulate GLA-90 years ago and it’s the supplement I personally use and recommend to my family, friends, and clients.

Why do Omega 6’s cause me incredible pain?

Hi Cindy – this would be likely due to an issue digesting these fats. We would recommend looking into your liver/bile function and improving fat digestion.
