I usually love warm weather, but this summer the heat has been taking a toll. I drink lots of water and eat well, but often I’m too cranky, bloated and tired to do much of anything. What’s going on?

It sounds like you might not be getting enough electrolytes to replace those lost through sweat. Certain minerals found in our perspiration (including potassium and sodium) are needed to maintain optimal fluid levels in the body, but plain water doesn’t replenish these energizing nutrients. In fact, when you drink a lot of plain water, you can actually dilute your body’s electrolyte levels, which can lead to symptoms like the fatigue, irritability and water retention you’ve described.

To guard against this, I recommend drinking 1 cup of coconut water daily. This liquid contains an ideal blend of potassium, magnesium and sodium to restore electrolyte levels, rev energy and flush excess water weight within five days.
