Before completely dismissing all seed oils as bad choices, carefully consider their potential contributions to a healthy eating plan and learn to identify the “good” ones. Steering clear of overly processed and refined foods can go a long way in avoiding risky oils.
Macadamia oil is one of the healthiest oils — and also one of my personal favorites. Packed with nearly 80% monounsaturated fats and high oleic acid content, it trumps olive oil – which contains anywhere from 70-75 percent monounsaturates. Macadamia oil serves as nature’s perfect balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids — helping manage inflammation, maintain healthy cholesterol levels, and decrease triglycerides levels.
Its high smoke point (up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit) makes it an ideal choice for frying, roasting, or sautéing and serves up considerably more antioxidants than any other cooking oil I know of. In addition, it can help you achieve your weight loss goals as it revs up your body’s metabolism.
As if that weren’t enough, macadamia oil can also do wonders for your skin! Virgin macadamia oil mimics human sebum to naturally protect and moisturize skin cells. It is light, non-greasy, and absorbs quickly, leaving a velvety protective barrier on your skin.
Homemade Skin Care Tip:
Combine equal parts virgin macadamia oil and virgin coconut oil. Add a few drops of your preferred essential oil for an exquisite massage oil! Package it in a lovely airtight glass container for yourself or as a uniquely healthy gift! Store away from light.
