Rev Up with My Holiday Super Juice!

Pom JuiceThe ancient fruit that symbolizes long life and fights fatigue.

You’re tired.

You’re rushed.

You’re stressed.

I don’t blame you. The holidays can take a toll on your nerves and your health. So here’s a quick seasonal fix that will renew your holiday spirit: pomegranate juice.

The word pomegranate is translated as “apple with many seeds” from the ancient Hebrew. This exotic fruit dates back to the Garden of Eden and scholars now believe that Eve’s apple was really a pomegranate!

Not only is this delectable fruit steeped in religious significance, mythology, and legend (the pomegranate was said to be the favorite food of the gods and symbolized long life, regeneration and marriage) but it has modern day scientific backing that is very impressive. A study at the University of California found that the antioxidant activity of commercial pomegranate juice is three times higher than that of red wine and green tea–and without the potential sulfites from wine or copper overload from tea.

Additional studies have shown that pomegranate juice, similar in many respects to the wildly popular fat flushing cranberry juice, has also demonstrated incredibly high antioxidant activity as shown on the ORAC scale. In fact only four ounces of the unsweetened pomegranate juice per day can help reduce and may even reverse arterial lesions.

I have created a holiday super food juice you can use to boost your immunity and revive your spirit. Use this as a festive alternative to your everyday cran-water or even add pom concentrate to your smoothies, marinades, salad dressings and salsas.

  1. Even though carbonated water is fun to drink, the phosphoric acid, which is what makes it carbonated, leaches calcium from your bones. Carbonation also causes bloating.
