Have a bookworm on your list that is interested in natural health? Give them one of my favorites!

Some of the most memorable gifts I’ve ever received have been books. There’s nothing like curling up with a good holistic health book and learning new ways to feel your best. Today, I’m sharing with you 5 of my all-time favorites to help inspire your healthy holiday gift giving!

  1. I Used to Have CancerJames Templeton, author

James Templeton, I Used to Have CancerIn his new book, the love of my life opens up about how that devastating phrase, “You have cancer,” sent his whole world crashing down in the fight for his life, and how he came out fighting – and won. He’s one of the strongest people I know, and he’s not just surviving – but thriving – more than 30 years after being diagnosed with terminal stage IV melanoma cancer.

The toxins and radiation we are exposed to in the air we breathe, the water we drink and bathe in, and the foods we eat, plus all of the other lifestyle choices we make, are risk factors for the 90 to 95 percent of cancers that aren’t caused by your genes. The truth is, even if a cancer runs in your family, the odds are it isn’t “dirty genes,” but actually a “dirty environment.” James had to learn all of this the hard way and wants to use his experiences and his personal story of triumph to help everyone either overcome or completely avoid a diagnosis of cancer.

If you only buy one book this year, let this be the one. There isn’t anyone I know that wouldn’t benefit from hearing his inspiring story and learning how to harness the healing power of nature to overcome a deadly diagnosis.

  1. Harmonic Healing: Restore Your Vital Force for Lifelong WellnessDr. Linda Lancaster, author

Harmonic Healing by Dr. Linda LancasterDr. Linda Lancaster is a long time dear friend and associate who was a student of my mentor, Dr. Hazel Parcells. Invisible forces, including chemicals, heavy metals, radiation, parasites, viruses, fungi, bacteria, and more, are behind many of the health struggles we face today. Dr. Lancaster has helped thousands find their way back to health from digestive distress, chronic exhaustion, joint pain, and the myriad of mystery illnesses by tapping into the subtle but powerful forces of energy medicine.

In this book, she introduces you to her 6-week program that includes liver cleansing, neutralizing environmental pollution, revitalizing your energy, and returning to a balanced state of natural health. She uses nourishing recipes, therapeutic baths, homeopathic and household remedies to help you clear the roadblocks on your path to healing. You will learn how the invisible force that permeates all of life must be nourished and balanced to transform our increasingly toxic and polluted bodies into vital and loving fortresses of peace, wellbeing, and enlightenment.

  1. When the Body Says NoGabor Mate, MD, author

When the Body Says No, Gabor Mate This classic book will open your eyes to the connection between suppressed emotions and physical illness. When you are in a situation where you have to protect yourself for a long period of time, or there’s a trauma that happens, you can’t be vulnerable in that moment and explore the emotions that are created through these experiences. Instead, your body stores these suppressed emotions inside your cells, and they are expressed later as pain and disease if they aren’t ever dealt with and explored.

As he reveals in this book, Dr. Mate is a holocaust survivor and is intimately acquainted with the knowledge that we store our emotions in our bodies. His experience and research has shown him that emotions are inseparable from our health and physiology, and these hidden stressors are connected to our diseases and health issues.

This book helped me tremendously when I was dealing with a chronic pain issue. That experience opened my eyes to how much our bodies store for us, and Dr. Mate’s book helped me to explore this mind-body connection in my own healing process. I am happy to report that I am free from the pain that I once suffered with daily.

  1. The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of TraumaBessel van der Kolk, MD, author

The Body Keeps Score, BESSEL VAN DER KOLK M.D.Your body knows every trauma it has experienced and will not forget any suppressed emotions. Physiologically, emotional suffering and physical pain share similarities in their neural pathways. They are both perceived as threats and activate the sympathetic nervous system, known as the “fight or flight” response.

Dr. van der Kolk is a world-renowned expert on trauma, and his book is a must-read for anyone with PTSD. He breaks down the science behind trauma’s devastating effects on both body and brain, reshaping your capacity for pleasure, self-control, trust, and relationships. This book teaches you every aspect of how trauma is affecting you, and how to rewire your body and brain using neuroplasticity to fully achieve health and happiness on all levels.

  1. Unsafe At Any Meal: What the FDA Does Not Want You to Know About the Foods You EatDr. Renee Joy Dufault, author

Unsafe at Any Meal, Dr. Renee DufaultThis FDA whistleblower reveals the ugly truth behind the hundreds of food products that are contaminated with dangerous compounds – with the FDA’s blessing. Dr. Dufault, a former Food and Drug Administration Investigator, discovered that mercury from the plumbing systems of many food manufacturing plants was contaminating a number of processed foods commonly sold in supermarkets. When she revealed her findings to her supervisor, she was told to immediately stop her investigation. Fortunately for us, she didn’t listen.

She continued to find heavy metals, pesticides, and other harmful additives in our mainstream food supply, and was always met with dead ends in revealing her investigations. She chose to take an early retirement from the FDA and has devoted her life to making the public aware of these hidden food dangers, and how they contribute to chronic conditions like ADHD and autism. This book not only tells us all she discovered through her time at the FDA, it also teaches us how to read food labels and recognize misleading marketing tactics.

Thanks for your guidance on these books. Definitely buying several of these for presents and for myself. I’m getting “I Used to Have Cancer” for my cousin who was just diagnosed with prostrate cancer.
