With summer fading as fast as the sunset, I sometimes get a little sentimental. This summer was particularly bittersweet for me. There were plenty of good times for which I am so grateful—family gatherings, long talks with friends, and moments of laughter that I’ll treasure. But there was sorrow, too. Saying goodbye to a trusted colleague and friend just recently was a hard reminder of how quickly life can turn. Experiences like that always stop me in my tracks and bring me back to what matters most—our health and the time we share with the people we love.
Now a new season is settling in. The days are cooler and the evenings come earlier. This change of pace feels like a reminder to pause, check in with myself, and make a few mindful adjustments before the holidays arrive, and I’d like to share them with you.
Here are three things I focus on when for an October Reset that I’d like to share with you:
Trade the Sugar for Cran-Water
Drinks are one of the easiest places to start. Most of us don’t realize how much sugar sneaks in through sodas, flavored coffees, or even juices that claim to be healthy. All that sugar can leave you drained and craving more.
Cran-Water is a simple swap I’ve leaned on for years. My signature Cran-Water recipe calls for 1 ounce of organic, unsweetened cranberry juice mixed with 7 ounces of pure water. To save time during the day, mix a full batch (64 oz) in the morning – add 1 cup (8 oz) unsweetened cranberry juice to a half-gallon container and fill the rest with water.
Make Protein Non-Negotiable
One of the best resets you can make is making sure protein shows up at every meal. Protein isn’t only about building muscle—it helps keep blood sugar stable, keeps cravings at bay, and gives your brain the fuel it needs.
I aim for four to six ounces at every meal. Eggs for breakfast, fish or chicken at lunch, beef, turkey, or even lentils at dinner. And when I want an easy boost, I use Collagen 4+. It’s tasteless, blends into almost anything (hot or cold), and makes hitting my protein goal simple.
Support Your Liver Before the Holidays Hit
Your liver works hard day in and day out. You don’t even have to flip a switch. It works as the body was designed to work. It filters toxins, balances hormones, and even helps with weight control. But when it gets overloaded? You feel it. Low energy, stubborn weight, slow digestion are just a few of the symptoms.
October is the perfect month to give your liver some love. And it’s not hard to do! Simple things like dry brushing before your shower, drinking warm lemon water in the morning, or taking a brisk walk can keep things moving. For added support, I also like Bile Builder and Liver-Lovin’ Formula. They help smooth out digestion, balance hormones, and keep my energy steady. Think of it as a head start before the holiday treats roll in.
Do this through the entire month of October (and November), and by the time the holidays arrive, you’ll feel lighter, more energetic, and ready to actually enjoy the season—not just push through it.
How about you? What stands out from your summer, and what are you most looking forward to this Fall? Share your thoughts below—I’d really enjoy reading them.

I love all of your products and fully believe in how you prioritize food as medicine.
The container for the collagen is very cumbersome. Maybe you could come up with a less heavy and maybe not plastic container that is easier to open. This last container I got made shrieking, squeaking noises as I unscrewed it one turn after another.
Just a thought!

Hi Ann Louise, I am looking at the liver-loving formula, my hesitation is that a dermatologist did allergy testing on my skin a long time ago and found nickel and copper allergy. Will Bile Builder be enough? Julie
Julie, the copper in Liver-Lovin’ Formula is bioavailable so should be well tolerated with Bile Builder! – Team ALG
