When the weather turns cold—or when long workdays keep you glued to a chair—it’s easy to let movement fall by the wayside. But simple, at-home activity can make all the difference in your energy, metabolism, and mental clarity. If you’ve followed my work over the years, then you know I’ve always believed in movement that fits real life.

In The Fat Flush Fitness Plan, which I co-wrote with fitness legend Joanie Greggains, we outlined a program built around rebounding, jump-roping, walking, light strength training, and lymph-boosting moves to support circulation and detox. And over the years, I’ve shared other simple indoor exercises that fit easily into daily life—quick “reboots” you can do right at home or right at your desk.

Today, I want to share a few of those easy indoor moves to keep you feeling energized and focused all season long. 

Seated or Standing Marching

Perfect for desk dwellers. Marching in place helps loosen tight hips, increase circulation, and breathe new life into a tired afternoon. It also gets your lymph flowing—something most people never think about.

Invisible Jump Rope

No rope? No problem. Just mimic the motion beside your desk. This is one of my favorite ways to warm up quickly and get your blood moving. It’s simple, fun, and surprisingly energizing.

Shoulder Rolls & Neck Stretches

I can’t tell you how often I’ve seen “tech neck” and shoulder tension sabotage energy levels. A few slow shoulder rolls or gentle neck stretches open everything back up and support the lymphatic channels around the neck and upper chest.

Wall Push-Ups

A wonderful strength-building move that anyone can do. Wall push-ups wake up your core, arms, and posture muscles—so important if you’re sitting more than usual. And more important than ever as you age!

Light Resistance Training

Even a few minutes with light hand weights or a resistance band helps keep your muscles firm and engaged. Strong muscles support your joints, steady your balance, and make everyday tasks feel easier. And as a nice bonus, the stronger your muscles are, the better your body handles blood sugar and overall energy.

Deep Breathing Breaks

Never underestimate the power of breath. Deep, diaphragmatic breathing helps oxygenate your cells, calm your nervous system, and bring clarity back to your day.

Rebounding (Mini-Trampoline)

If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know how much I love rebounding. It’s one of the most powerful ways to stimulate lymphatic flow and support detox—especially during the winter months when circulation slows. Even two or three minutes can lift your spirits and wake up your whole system.
