The hidden ingredient lurking in thousands of “healthy” foods.
You gave up sugar.
You switched to protein bars, low-fat yogurt, and “healthy” gluten-free snacks.
But what if one hidden ingredient in those very foods could spike your blood sugar even faster than table sugar?
It’s called maltodextrin.
This highly processed carbohydrate is commonly hidden in protein bars, meal replacement shakes, sports drinks, soups, sauces, and countless packaged foods. Depending on how it’s processed, maltodextrin can have a glycemic index ranging from 85 to as high as 136—compared to about 65 for table sugar.
That’s why I always encourage you to look beyond the Nutrition Facts panel and read the ingredient list. If you spot maltodextrin, ask yourself whether there’s a less processed alternative.
Want to eliminate hidden ingredients like maltodextrin from your diet?
My Fat Flush Plan takes the guesswork out of healthy eating by focusing on whole, minimally processed foods that nourish your body instead of confusing it. It’s one of the simplest ways I know to help support healthy blood sugar, metabolism, and long-term wellness.
