The Post-COVID Weight Gain Syndrome

The Post-COVID Syndrome

Over the past few years, I’ve heard from thousands of men and women who all say some version of the same thing:

“I used to know how to lose weight. I used to know how to feel good in my body. And now… nothing works.”

They’ve tried everything.

Some have spent tens of thousands of dollars.

Many have seen every kind of practitioner.

Most have followed every new protocol.

One dear one that I know of has even gone so far as to remove breast implants, hoping it might finally unlock the mystery of why her body feels so inflamed, exhausted, and resistant to weight loss.

And still, the scale keeps climbing.

Here’s What I’m Hearing: Sherry D’s Story

Sherry D. recently shared her story with me and with her permission, I’m sharing with you. Sherry first followed The Fat Flush Plan back in 2001 and lost 48 inches in just six weeks.

Then life happened.

Five children.

Ten moves.

The heartbreak of losing a child.

Years of stress, responsibility, and putting herself last.

In her own words:

“I have struggled so much to lose weight and feel better. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars seeing just about anyone to figure it out.

I even had my breast implants removed in hopes I would just simply feel better, sleep better and maybe figure out if it’s the reason I haven’t been able to shed the weight – which keeps growing and is getting overwhelming.

I first found Fat Flush in 2001 and combined with T-Tapp, I lost 48 inches in 6 weeks. (I have the pics to prove it.) Since then I had 2 more kids (bringing the total to 5) moved 10(?) times, lost our oldest child, etc. I fell away from both FF and T-Tapp — the two most profoundly effective health programs I have adopted.

Through all of the chaos I kept working to lose the weight I was gaining and be healthy. It’s been nearly impossible since 2020. Even against my better judgement, I used semaglutide. I lost 30 and gained back 50.

I would love to be a part of whatever is coming down the line. Thank you for continuing to seek answers for the rest of us.”

And if that wasn’t enough, what she said next is what broke my heart:

“It’s very hard to do this as a layperson. I just want to feel better again.”

If that sounds familiar, I want you to know something important.

You are not broken.

Your body isn’t failing you.

And this isn’t a willpower problem.

What so many people are dealing with now is something most diet programs were never built for — a post-COVID metabolic and hormonal shift that has quietly changed how the body responds to food, stress, and weight loss.

That’s the reason I created The Fat Flush Reboot.

Because today’s bodies are carrying a very different load than they were even ten years ago. Lingering inflammation after illness. Hormones that don’t quite find their rhythm again. Blood sugar that’s harder to stabilize. A liver working overtime. Cells that struggle to make energy. A nervous system that rarely gets a chance to truly rest.

Most diets were never designed for this reality.

The Reboot was.

The Fat Flush Reboot was created for exactly this moment. It isn’t about white-knuckling your way through another diet or punishing your body into submission. It’s about giving your body what it needs so it can finally do what it’s meant to do.

That means restoring metabolic balance. Supporting your liver. Cooling down inflammation. Steadying blood sugar. Helping your cells make energy again.

When those systems start working together, something shifts. Weight loss stops feeling like constant fight — and starts happening as a natural result of better health.

P.S. If nothing has worked for you since COVID… if your body feels unfamiliar… if you’re tired of blaming yourself for a problem that isn’t your fault — this is your moment. The Fat Flush Reboot was created for women exactly like you. You don’t need another diet. You need a real reset.

    1. Bonnie, thank you for sharing. As we get older, our bodies change — insulin resistance can increase, hormones shift, and metabolism slows — so what once worked doesn’t always work the same way anymore. That’s exactly why The Fat Flush Reboot was created: to meet today’s body where it is now, with tools like identifying your personal carbohydrate sweet spot and using recipes that list net carbs to help guide you. 1. Financially my life was not good in 2016. My disabled elder aunt came to live with us, my mother and I in October 2016. My granddaughter was born December 2017. I cared for her at her parents home several days per week in 2018. I needed to be there so my daughter could get to work. That meant leaving my home by 6am. They moved to a new home December 2018. I cared for her several days per week and spent the night. Which meant I needed to provide groceries and other needed things for my aunt and mother on the days I was not there. I was tired and did not eat as I should. Covid began as of March 17, 2020 on my way home from my daughter’s she called and told me I should not come anymore. She did not want me and therefore my mother exposed to COVID. I was at home with my aunt and mother did not go to see any patients at my office anymore. I was a dental hygienist with my own practice. I only went out to grocery shop and get other necessary things. I was 68 years old and my mother was 84. Early August 2020 my mother had a hysterectomy that was recommended about 5 years prior. She felt better after a few days. She had a follow up appointment and was having breathing problems. My sister took her to appointment as I was caring for my aunt. At the appointment they encouraged my sister to take her to ER. They did tests. The results from the surgery testing and ER visit confirmed she had a fast acting cancer. My mother died December 2020. I became the caregiver for my aunt. Her condidtions do not allow me to leave her alone. So walking outside and going most places became impossible. My depression after my mother’s death and lonliness due tot hat and not being able to have a normal social like caused me to eat and not exercise and gain more weight. I was diagnosed with type II diabetes in March 2024. I had begun working with a dietician in January 2024 and required medication beginning April 2024 for diabetes. My diet and exercise changed in that process by August 2024 I no longer required medication. What combination of exercise and diet allow me to loose weight is walking 3 times per day almost 1 hour each time and a type 2 diabetic diet, It allows me to loose 2.4 punds per month. I have fallen back on that schedule and have regained that weight. I have had the reboot book for several years now and incorporated much of that into my daily routine. The pans I use and foods I eat and Unikey supplements I take are in line. I can no longer do a fat flush becaude of the type 2 diabetes. I will return to the diet and exercise plan to loss the weight.

    1. Diann, thank you for sharing your story. You’ve carried an incredible amount of responsibility, loss, and stress — and the fact that you were able to reverse your need for diabetes medication shows just how resilient your body truly is. The Fat Flush Reboot was created for exactly this kind of real-life situation, to support blood sugar, metabolism, and healing in a gentle, sustainable way — and you may find it gives you the structure and encouragement to get back into a rhythm that truly supports you again.
