Nicotine: The Surprising Biohack for Post-COVID Symptoms

Here’s a biohack that may surprise you…

Nicotine patches—yes, the same ones used for smoking cessation—are now being explored for post-COVID recovery.

Why?

Because nicotine interacts with something called nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, or nAChRs—key communication pathways in the body that may be disrupted by the virus or spike protein.

When these receptors are out of balance, it can affect everything from energy and brain function to inflammation and overall resilience.

In a clinical case published in Bioelectronic Medicine (January 2023) of Long COVID patients, researchers observed rapid improvement—some individuals even reported near-complete remission of symptoms within just days of using nicotine patches.

Some practitioners are now using low-dose nicotine patches—around 3 to 7 milligrams—as a way to help gently support these pathways. Simply apply to skin. Reapply every 24 hours.

Do note that nicotine patches should be used cautiously, especially for those with cardiovascular conditions. Check with your healthcare practitioner in advance.

  1. I believe I have long covid my doctor looks at me like I’m crazy, are there any tests for that? I also have hypothyroid, fatty liver and sleep apnea, I’m 67 and my heart is fantastic no problems there but the constant nasal drainage is so awful it never stops, it does get better when on antibiotics and steroids but comes right back after I’m done with meds, advice please before I go crazy.
