My coworker has been taking a seaweed-based supplement for two months and she’s already lost 18 pounds. Should I try it?
Seaweed can help you slim, but I don’t’ recommend the supplements. The manufacturing process for these pills isn’t well-regulated, so there’s no guarantee you’ll get seaweed’s beneficial compounds. Plus, if you take an extract, you’ll miss out on the plant’s thyroid-revving iodine, appetite suppressing soluble fiber, and detoxifying compounds.
Instead, I advise eating at least two 1/2-cup servings of sea vegetables (like kombu, agar, nori, dulse, or kelp) per week. Try using nori seaweed wraps for sandwiches, stirring seaweed into soups and omelets or spicing up meals with Seaweed Gomasio. These steps have helped my clients shed 3 pounds per week without diet or exercise.
