Mistletoe Magic for Precancerous Skin Lesions

Mistletoe Magic for Precancerous Skin Lesions

If you’ve spent years in the sun, you’ve probably noticed a few rough, scaly patches or areas of sun-damaged skin—and perhaps even had a precancerous spot or two checked by your dermatologist.

That’s one reason I’m so fascinated by mistletoe cream. Yes, mistletoe—the same plant we hang in our doorways at Christmas.

For decades, specially prepared mistletoe extracts have been studied and used in European integrative medicine, yet most Americans have no idea this familiar holiday plant has such an interesting history.

One product I like to keep in my medicine cabinet is VISCUM Album Herba Extractum Resinosum 10% Crème, a traditional European mistletoe cream. I use it on areas of dry, rough, sun-damaged skin as part of my regular skin-care routine.

Sometimes the most interesting botanicals aren’t exotic at all. They’ve been hanging over our heads every Christmas.

P.S. If you’ve had over 5 blistering sunburns in your life, please see this article! Your risk of melanoma is doubled.

P.P.S. My husband, James Templeton—a 40+ year Stage 4 melanoma cancer survivor—is never without his Vitality C! Vitamin C provides powerful antioxidant support and is essential for collagen production, making it one of our daily must-haves for healthy skin. You can read all about his journey back to health (including the supplements he takes) in his book, I Used to Have Cancer.
