A one day menu and recipes to fight insulin/leptin resistance.

The distinct metabolic effects of subcutaneous fat (the “loose” fat on the hips, thighs, and butt) and visceral fat (hard belly fat) are not created equal.

My Fat Flushing Smoothie Shakedown is an equal opportunity fat blaster. It addresses both the leptin resistance secreted by excess subcutaneous fat and the inflammation produced from hard belly fat which can lead to insulin resistance. Leptin, as you may recall, is the hunger hormone that fires up metabolism. It is out of balance in many overweight individuals. Both too much or too little leptin has a way of producing major hunger cravings that bring on a metabolic slow down.

Originally designed as a kick starter to the classic Fat Flush Plan, the Smoothie Shakedown has taken on a hunger fixing mission of its own—with extraordinary results!  That’s because it contains all the right lean and “green” quality proteins. The centerpiece is the Fat Flush Body Protein made with rice and pea protein derived from the “purest” non-GMO ingredients available–because unlike hemp, whey, soy, or egg-based protein powders which provide energy for 1 ½ hours, rice and pea can offset hunger for four hours–no small task when you are busily multitasking and don’t always make time for replenishing your energy reserves.

And, you’ll be able to eat your fill of antioxidant-rich veggies like kale, spinach and broccoli, and low glycemic fruits like grapefruit and green apples that can normalize leptin levels and ignite your fat burning engines. It’s grain and starch-free, but loaded with appetite-satiating fiber like chia seeds that take the lid off cravings. Smoothie Shakedown’s star-studded list of headlining anti-inflammatory herbs and spices (turmeric, garlic, cinnamon, ginger, mustard, cayenne, cloves, oregano), plus the strongly anti-inflammatory fish oil and berries also target the hard belly fat and start to melt inches.

Shakedowners have reported up to 20 pounds and 12 inches lost in only two weeks—without deprivation or caving into temptation:

Casey from Tennessee says, “While I was skeptical of smoothies having the ability to keep me energized and not leave me hungry, that is exactly what they did. I did not feel deprived of food or like I was starving. My energy level was higher than ever. By the end of week two I lost 20 lbs and 12 inches!”

Busy mom Gabrielle from New Hampshire reveals, “The Fat Flush Smoothie Shakedown has been nothing but a success for me. In the first 2 weeks I lost 15lbs with no trouble at all. I LOVE the taste, but most of all I love the way it makes me feel— inside and out! Not only did I lose 15 lbs in the first 2 weeks, but I also lost almost 2 pant sizes…I am a regular person, working 40 hours a week, raising a son and having fun with life. If I can do the Smoothie Shakedown and be successful, so can you!”

As these success stories attest, it is a healthy, balanced “ultra” Fat Flush that’s a hunger-free way to flatten your belly fast.

And because leptin resistance will soon be under control–you’ll find yourself filling up faster than ever–research at the University of California-Davis found that people who ate more plant-based protein consumed 40% less calories than those who ate meat.

Try this on for size:
For breakfast and lunch, grab a fiber-filled Shakedown smoothie, and for dinner savor a satisfying meal with lean protein, unlimited vegetables and salad.

Here’s a menu from Carol, my marketing director who now makes morning smoothies with her staff on a daily basis. She reports that our Web Manager Chris, 34, lost 10 pounds in the first five days on the program and Marketing Coordinator Lianne, 26, a reformed breakfast skipper, now powers up with a smoothie in lieu of coffee.

Breakfast – Purple Haze “Green” Smoothie

1 scoop Fat Flush Body Protein

½ cup kale

½ cup spinach

1 cup blueberries

1 tablespoon flaxseed or fish oil

1 tablespoon chia seeds or ground flax seeds

3 ice cubes, or as desired

Combine cran-water, protein powder, blueberries, oil, seeds, spinach and kale in a blender at high speed. Add ice cubes and continue blending on high speed until smoothie is thick and creamy.

Orange Creamsicle Smoothie – 1 serving

8 ounces cran-water (1 oz cranberry juice in 7 oz water)

1 serving Fat Flush Body Protein

Flesh of 1 orange plus 2 teaspoons orange zest and a pinch of ground ginger

1 tablespoon chia seeds or ground flax seeds

1 teaspoon Flora-Key

3 ice cubes, or as desired

Combine cran-water, protein powder, flaxseed oil, chia seeds, orange flesh, orange zest, ginger, oil, seeds and Flora-Key in a blender at high speed. Add ice cubes and continue blending on high speed until smoothie is thick and creamy.

Easy Broiled Wild Salmon Filets with Braised Fragrant Chard – Four servings

Easy Broiled Salmon

3 tablespoons lemon juice

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

2 cilantro, chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced

2 teaspoons ground cumin

4 5-ounce salmon filets

Combine lemon juice, parsley, cilantro, garlic, cumin, and cayenne in a small medium bowl. Add the filets and rub the mixture in until filets are well coated on both sides. Chill and marinate for at least 1 hour. Preheat broiler. Place fish in a nonstick broiling pan under broiler and cook for about 4 minutes on each side or until salmon is opaque in the center. Serve immediately.

Braised Fragrant Chard – Four 1-cup servings

¾ cup vegetable broth

1 onion, chopped

3 cloves garlic, smashed

1 bunch green chard, chopped coarsely

Salt (optional)

In a large sauté pan over medium-high heat, heat ¼ cup of the broth. Sauté the onions and garlic until softened, about 2 minutes. Stir in the chard. Stir in the remaining ½ cup of broth; cover. Lower the heat to low; simmer until the chard is crisp-tender, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle with salt if using.

Jicama Slaw – 4 servings

12 ounces jicama, peeled and cut into thin strips

1 red onion, thinly sliced

1 carrot, grated

1 cucumber, cut into thin strips

1 cup parsley, chopped

½ cup apple cider vinegar

½ teaspoon dill

3 tablespoons flaxseed oil

2 garlic cloves, minced

Juice of 1 lemon

In a large bowl, place jicama, onion, carrot, and cucumber and set aside. In a jar, put parsley, vinegar, dill, flaxseed oil, garlic, and lemon juice and shake well. Pour the dressing over the jicama mix and toss lightly.

We think you will be so hooked on this healthy hunger fix, you will be a fan for life—or at least another two weeks—the suggested length of the program unless you have more than 50 pounds to lose, in which case you can extend the program for up to a month!

Cheers and Bon Appétit!

I printed out the One Day Menu. HOWEVER, the print is so small I can’t read it even with my reading glasses on. Please change the print size to make it more readable..
    Thank You

I break out into hives and itching when I drink cranberry juice. I used to drink it daily but a year ago found myself starting to itch severely after drinking it. I have substituted it w unsweetened blueberry juice, is there any other low sugar juice that can be used? Is cranberry juice allergenic?

Alex, you could try using 1 teaspoon raw apple cider vinegar in a quart of water. You may also try pure pomegranate juice in twice the dilution of the cran-water that ALG recommends.

I want to try this… I have low blood sugar (Hypoglycemia) Can I do the Shakedown?
    Thank you.

Hi Carole- Yes, you will likely have great results from the Shakedown. The rich plant fibers, nourishing fatty acids, and herbal/spice components help to stabilize your blood sugar. Plus, you can eat as often as you like, so long as you stick to the Fat Flushing principles.

I notice that the green smoothie combines fruit with veggies, I thought that was a “no no”.

First thing in the morning when your digestive juices are at their strongest and they both are pureed in the blender you can get away with it. I have followed food combining rules for years, especially eating fruit first or by itself, but this combination works fine for me.

      Hi Mare,
If weight loss is your goal, it’s best to avoid brazil nuts and beets until you’ve reached a place where you can follow a lifestyle maintenance plan.

I have tried the smoothie shakedown for a month and using the Fat Flush supplements but have not lost any weight or inches. If anything, I think I lost firmness and become flabbier. Any suggestions?

      Hi Kristi,
My advice would be to transition into Phase 2 of the classic Fat Flush Plan and add some exercise to your routine. Depending on your hormone balance, some progesterone or testosterone creme may help firm and tighten your skin.

I have been on the fat flush for 2 weeks now and haven’t cheated..I have not lost any weight or inches yet but I am off the chocolate, coffee, tea and all sweets. I am sleeping better, have more energy and with less acid reflux at night. I am going to try another 2 weeks on the plan. everyone keep the faith

      Hi Cindy,
Congratulations on making those positive changes- they certainly have a strong impact on our health! Have you taken before and after measurements? It’s fairly common in the beginning for women to lose inches before the scale actually starts to move.

Stick with it and you’ll reach your goal in no time 🙂

I’m just starting this plan and am wondering if I could substitute something for the fish oil supplements. This may sound strange but fish oil bothers my arthritis in my hands.

      Sharon,
Flaxseed oil is a perfectly acceptable replacement for fish oil for all Fat Flush programs. 2 tbs per day 🙂

What about using nutionial yeast on any of the FF phases. It is attenuated yeast. by Bragg. Anyone know where I can get more info on following the FFplan and having heavy metal issues?

      Hi Moe,
Typically nutritional yeast is used for additional B vitamins. A supplement such as the GRL B-Complex Forte from UNI KEY would be preferable to nutritional yeast.

The Fat Flush Plan is well complemented by having a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis done to assess your toxic heavy metal load. The HTMA report makes recommendations to help chelate the toxic heavy metals, and those recommendations are easily incorporated along with the Fat Flush Plan.

I have recently lost 75 pounds, but my belly is still huge and very flabby 🙁 I read an article about subcue fat and leptin resistance. Will the smoothie shakedown have a similar effect on getting rid of this belly fat. It’s awful to still have that there.

Kaitee, Following the Smoothie Shakedown program with the Fat Flush Kit supplements and CLA-1000 will definitely help you achieve your goal.
The GLA 90 in the kit is great for supporting and tightening the skin during and after dramatic weight loss 🙂

I’m about to start the shakedown tomorrow. need a recharge & cleansing. I have a fat flush kit never opened that has an expiration of September 2011. I can not buy another kit. Spent enough money on purchasing bundles! Is this safe to use now?

Leeann, Check again to see if that date is an expiration or a manufacture’s date. If it says MANF 09 2011, it is good for three years beyond that date.
After that time, the nutrients may begin to degrade and the potency cannot be ensured.

For your circumstances, you can follow the Smoothie Shakedown for two weeks, take a week break, then resume for another two weeks. After that time, transitin into Phase 2 of the Fat Flush Plan for continued weight loss and blood sugar regulation. Best wishes to you!

Thank you for your response. My Fasting BS was 102. Should I take GLA 90 and CLA 1000 as well? Or is the GLA 90 ideal over CLA? Does following the Fat Flush Plan way of life reverse IR? Are there any other things I should do …. Exercise of course. But I am on a mission to reverse this and feel better. Thanks.

GLA and CLA may indeed be taken together, they compliment each other. Many Fat Flushers have been successful in preventing and reversing insulin resistance. You will find more tips and tricks for healthy metabolism within the Fat Flush Plan book! Take care

Can I substitute coconut oil for the flaxseed oil?

    Reply
    • Team ALG

Coconut oil does not have quite the fat-burning punch that flax or fish oil have, so it is recommended to stick to the recipe for optimal results!
