Get ready for the next generation of this tried and true citrus slimmer!
Firstly, women have been using grapefruit diets to slim their stomach and take inches off their waist for years. But what’s going on behind the scenes is even more exciting for your health than what you see in the mirror – and my new Radical Metabolism plan optimizes grapefruit’s fat-burning potential as the next generation of the grapefruit diet!
Grapefruit is the Slimming Citrus Wonder
That being said, researchers at the University of Western Ontario were studying the anti-cancer properties of grapefruit when they came across a startling discovery – human liver cells dump their fat stores when exposed to narigenin, a flavonoid found in grapefruit. Research has found narigenin turns off the genes responsible for making new fat while turning on the genes that use stored fat for energy. Grapefruit’s slimming effects ignites your fat-burning engines, slims your waist and balances your blood sugar.
Grapefruit Targets Belly Fat
Similarly, cortisol plays a key role in the accumulation of belly fat. The narigenin in grapefruit blocks an enzyme in fat tissue and keeps cortisone from converting into cortisol. Not only that, but narigenin blocks glucose production in the liver and helps regulate blood sugar levels, while preventing DNA damage. So as cortisol levels drop and blood sugars normalize, belly fat melts off!
Also, this is good news for those with metabolic syndrome. The weight loss effects combined with reduction in insulin resistance and better lipid profiles were strong enough in studies to classify grapefruit as a weight loss drug!
How to Use Grapefruit for Your Best Weight Loss Success
So, as tempting as it is to find a grapefruit pill to use as a quick fix, it doesn’t produce the same results as eating the whole fruit. All parts of the grapefruit work together to produce tremendous weight loss effects, and can’t be distilled down into a pill. You need the soluble fiber, Vitamin C, and variety of flavonoids to experience the best weight loss results. Studies show that grapefruit is most effective when eaten either before or as a part of every meal, and grapefruit juice should only be substituted during the first meal of the day.
Done the right way, with the whole fruit, you can expect 5 times more weight loss than someone who isn’t consuming grapefruit with every meal. That’s impressive!
Radical Metabolism – The Next Generation Grapefruit Diet
In contrast, past grapefruit diets have drastically limited calories. Often to as little as 800 calories per day, while my new Radical Metabolism plan doesn’t even count calories. If you make grapefruit part of every meal, it will naturally cut your calorie intake and shift your body into a fat-burning state all on its own. Even inhaling its scent will stimulate nerve responses in your GI tract to reduce appetite, then activate nerves within your fat tissue to stimulate fat breakdown.
From the very first juice on the 4 Day Radical Intensive Cleanse to the last salmon dinner served with grapefruit slaw on the 21 Day Radical Reboot, Radical Metabolism is packed full of delicious ways to have your grapefruit with every meal. And I’ll let you in on a secret that only my Radical Metabolizers know – when it comes to grapefruit, bitter is always better for weight loss.
Grapefruit: The Bitter Secret to Better Weight Loss
Most noteworthy, the second Radical Rule you’ll learn through Radical Metabolism is that bitter foods make better bile. Let me explain why this is so important. Bile is made in the liver to break down the fats you eat and bind toxins to escort them out of the body. Without bile, you can’t digest or absorb fat-soluble nutrients like vitamins A, D, E, and K. Those are all important fat-burning essential fats like Omega 3 and Omega 6.
Above all, these fat-soluble nutrients and essential fats are crucial for brain health, hormone production, immunity, energy, cardiovascular health, and every cell membrane in your body. Bile also plays a key role in your thyroid health.
In addition to this, gallbladder disease and obesity are occurring at epidemic rates, and it turns out the two are connected – through bile. If you have thick, sludgy bile it stops flowing freely into the small intestine and stagnates in the gallbladder. It’s not long before gallstones and inflammation develop, and you can’t properly break down fats anymore. These fats are then absorbed into the bloodstream in an unusable form and your body has no choice but to store them.
Remember – bitter foods make better bile. So by incorporating grapefruit into your daily diet, you not only make better quality bile that flows freely, but you rev-up your fat-burning metabolism. Your gallbladder and liver will thank you for it!

Yes you can use pommelo as a substitute for grapefruit. The you can use
Yes you can use pommelo fruit as a substitute for grapefruit. You can use apple cider vinegar in place of Umeboshi vinegar.
Hi Marijke: We love grapefruit, too but don’t think pommelo will work as well. You can use apple cider vinegar instead of plum vinegar. Enjoy!!
Isn’t grapefruit still considered a fruit, and if so isn’t consuming it with every meal putting us over the 1 or 2 fruits per day either during the 21 day reboot or maintenance phase of the RM plan?
Diana, You’re having grapefruit juice in the AM, so that’s not included in the fruit serving per day and so you are just adding 1 extra serving of grapefruit per day on the RM. On maintenance you can go up to 3 servings of fruit per day. Grapefruit has so many special weight loss benefits that is a only going to help you, not hinder you in any way.
