Most people think of heart health as a numbers game… cholesterol, blood pressure, triglycerides.
But what if the secret to a stronger heart isn’t in your medicine cabinet… it’s beneath your feet?
Grounding (aka earthing) is the practice of walking barefoot on natural surfaces—grass, soil, sand—and it’s not just hippie hype. Research shows that connecting directly with the earth’s surface reduces inflammation, thins the blood naturally (yes, like a mild anticoagulant), and improves heart rate variability—a key marker of cardiovascular resilience.
Even 20 minutes a day can help neutralize free radicals, stabilize electrical rhythms in the heart, and support better sleep (which is when the heart heals and resets).
Try this: Kick off your shoes and stand barefoot on grass, dirt, or beach sand for 20 minutes a day. Bonus points if it’s during early morning sunlight—hello, circadian reset.
Why it works: The Earth emits a mild negative charge, and your body absorbs it like a battery topping off. That charge helps calm the nervous system, reduce oxidative stress, and improve blood flow… all of which protect your ticker.
Add-on hack: Pair grounding with Mag-Key or CoQ10 for an antioxidant power duo that fuels mitochondrial energy in heart cells!

Wow very interesting, I might have to give this a try. I was diagnosed with premature atrial contractions about a year ago. I do not smoke, drink alcohol, or take prescription medications. I’m always looking for natural ways to support my body.
Thank you AnnLouise for sharing this.
Rachael, so glad this resonated with you! Grounding is a simple, powerful way to support your heart and reconnect with your body. You’ve already built a strong foundation—this could be a great next step – Team ALG
