The 3-Day Smart Start Tune-UP

Lose 3-7 pounds in 3 days BEFORE the holidays

For those of you who can’t wait to start my Eat Fat, Lose Weight program,  here’s an easy Tune-UP. It incorporates ALL of the Eat Fat, Lose Weight principles for a liquid cleanse to reset digestion for holiday health.

Here it goes…

This simple Tune-UP not only works quickly, it resets your metabolism so you can keep right on losing! My metabolism-boosting 3-Day Smart Start has all the right stuff—including the essential Smart Fats. Many of my clients lose up to seven pounds in three days while most shed at least three to four pounds with a flatter tummy and no more cravings or blood sugar highs and lows.

Why It Works

The Tune-UP can be broken down into five factors like this:

Factor #1: Smart Flushing Fluids
You will be consuming three metabolism-boosting cocktails a day as well as three Smart Smoothies. Between meals, you can also drink lots of cran-water or plain, filtered water.  Keeping well-hydrated will elevate metabolism by at least 3%.

Factor #2: Hot Spices
The special booster cocktail contains just the right amount of fat-stoking cayenne pepper, mustard, turmeric and ginger to raise heat production in the system, kicking fat burning into high gear.

Factor #3: No Grain Drain
Grains trigger fat-promoting and hunger-producing insulin. To replace grains, you will be filling up on delicious protein-based smoothies. Protein encourages the release of glucagon which accesses stored body fat for energy. In addition, protein will stimulate metabolism by nearly 25%.

Factor #4: Daily Detox
Ingesting Mother Nature’s most purifying cleansing elements—especially green leafy veggies, blue-green algae and low sugar fruits—can help your body eliminate toxins that inhibit fat burning. Since toxins from pollution and pesticides in food are stashed in the fat cells, the more we can cleanse, the more effectively our fat cells will shrink! You can also snack on raw jicama, celery, and carrot sticks for even more veggie and fiber power. Jicama is a pre-biotic that will feed your microbiome, ensuring you have plenty of “skinny bacteria” to keep you fit and trim.

Factor #5: Fire Power Smart Fat
The Tune-UP is plenty low in calories, however, it provides all the Smart Fats you need to satisfy satiety. And, as they burn, they activate more metabolism-revving heat.

I hope you will give this a try. Everything is so simple, and everything is right here so you can get started today!

The 3-Day Protocol

Here is your daily Tune-UP menu. These quick and easy liquid meals will help reset your digestive tract while spiking up fat burning on the double. You can drink cran-water between meals, or filtered, pure water (half your body weight in ounces daily).

Cannot have tomato juice is there a substitute that can be used?

    • Ann Louise December 10, 2015 - 9:36 pm Reply

Dear Michelle: You can try bone broth as a base for the cocktail. I am sure it will still work wonders…..ALG

      • Beth S December 10, 2015 - 11:46 pm Reply

How about carrot juice? I’m a vegetarian that can’t eat tomatoes. Thank!!

        • Team ALG December 12, 2015 - 10:52 am Reply

You could try only 2 oz carrot juice with 2 oz celery juice and 2 oz cucmber juice with 2 oz of water. Carrots are too high in sugar to be used in higher quantities than 2 oz at a time 🙂

    What is greens powder

    • Ann Louise December 10, 2015 - 9:38 pm Reply

Dear Andrea: A greens powder is simply powdered greens that can be found in any health food store in the country. Thank you so much, ALG

    Two questions, please:
    1) Does “before bedtime” mean literally right before going to bed? I ask because I know other Fat Flush plans instruct you to not eat or drink at least 2 hours before going to bed.

    2) Am I assuming correctly that it is okay to add cinnamon to the smoothies as in other Fat Flush plans?

    • Ann Louise December 10, 2015 - 9:41 pm Reply

Hi Michelle: Before bedtime should not be taken literally. If you wish to add Ceylon Cinnamon to your smoothies, then by all means you may do so! Best, ALG

What are your thoughts on adding glucomannan (konjac root powder aka PGX) and/or a bit of psyllium powder to smoothies?

  • Ann Louise December 11, 2015 - 7:00 am Reply

    Hi Al:

These are both AOK with the caveat that the smoothies would need to be consumed rather quickly followed by another two glasses of water as both absorb lots of liquid. Blessings, ALG

Thank you for this great plan. The Smart Metabolizer Cocktail is delicious. After drinking it before bedtime, I awoke the next morning with a flatter stomach!!!

  • Lissa December 11, 2015 - 11:03 am Reply

Where is the list for the smart supplements?

    • Liz December 11, 2015 - 11:12 am Reply

Lissa, the list is in the book. I’m starting with the ones Ann Louise has listed above.

  • luz December 11, 2015 - 1:59 pm Reply

hi what tipe of mustard you recommmend ?

    • Team ALG December 11, 2015 - 2:27 pm Reply

Hi Luz, use dried mustard powder.

  • Thesa December 11, 2015 - 4:27 pm Reply

    What is the lecithin for?

    • Team ALG December 11, 2015 - 5:10 pm Reply

Thesa,it helps with weight loss. Lecithin is a major source of choline, a substance which helps the body metabolize (burn up) fats effectively.

Can I eat any other raw veggies besides carrots, celery or jicama? Are avocados allowed?

    • Team ALG December 16, 2015 - 9:43 am Reply

For best results, follow the plan the way Ann Louise has written it. Non-starchy raw veggies could also be used in the same limited quantity as suggested. Avocado is not included in this plan.

  • Ella December 18, 2015 - 1:57 pm Reply

Can you please recommend the right type of veggies and if we can substitute the raw with slightly cooked?
I struggle with lots of bloating and gas from raw veggies.
    Thank you.

    • Team ALG December 21, 2015 - 3:14 pm Reply

Ella, Ann Louise has recommended the veggies in the plan and recipes above. The raw veggies may be easier to digest because they are blended. You may benefit from taking a digestive enzyme like Inf-Zyme Forte to help you digest better and eliminate bloat.

Is this 3-day cleanse recommended over the “3-Day Fat Flush” posted on November 7, 2014?? I notice that they are very similar

    • Ann Louise December 22, 2015 - 12:58 pm Reply

Hi Janie: The two cleanses are both liquid cleanses that feature the metabolizer cocktail and high protein smoothies. The success of our 2014 3 Day Fat Flush was the basis for this new and updated 3 day tune-up which has more thermogenic spices in the cocktail and a different smoothie recipe for optimum fat burning and thyroid support. This latest 3 day version is even more effective so I hope you will give it a try.

Is this book only going to be available for a kindle or will there be hard copies published?

    • Ann Louise Gittleman December 22, 2015 - 11:13 am Reply

Hi Lisa – It’s currently only available in Kindle, but stay tuned for the hard copy which will be published in Spring 2016!

  • Mary December 25, 2015 - 11:10 am Reply

Is this 3 day diet diabetic friendly? I have type II.

    • Team ALG December 28, 2015 - 12:07 pm Reply

Mary, as with any diet change you would need to monitor your levels carefully. The foods on the plan are definitely diabetic friendly. Be sure to take the Fat Flush Kit with this plan. The Weight Loss Formula especially will help with blood sugar issues.

  • Carly January 2, 2016 - 3:24 pm Reply

Seeing as these are rather large servings would it be possible to cut down to just two of each drink each day? Or what would you recommend?

  • Jennifer January 8, 2016 - 6:34 pm Reply

Right now, it’s cold in the north east and the thought of cold smoothies all day, for 3 days is unbearable…could the smart metabolizer cocktail be turned into a soup? I’ve read the comment and suggestions of using broth instead of tomato juice and add the flax oil and chia seeds to soup when cooled to eating temp as not to destroy the nutrients? Can you tell I have hypothyroidism and find the cold temperatures hard to take? 🙂 Thank you so much for the info provided!!

    • Ann January 7, 2017 - 10:06 pm Reply

hypo also i feel the exact same way

  • Marie January 8, 2016 - 8:09 pm Reply

Jicama is not available in my area, what other vegetable can I replace it with?

  • Shannon January 9, 2016 - 11:21 am Reply

Does anyone have a copy of the one day fast after doing the 7 day prequel ? It’s the one with the Miracle juice? Or is there a better way to fast or not, now since that older book? Thanks for input.

    • Team ALG January 10, 2017 - 12:34 pm Reply

Shannon, the Fast Track is still a good detox and the Miracle Juice fast is a good way to do it. Please check your book for the protocol or pick up a copy.

  • Patti January 9, 2017 - 7:46 pm Reply

What are some substitutions for the tomato juice besides bone broth as I’m allergic to tomatos

  • Team ALG January 10, 2017 - 12:28 pm Reply

You can also use vegetable broth, either homemade or a quality no additive healthy brand.

  • Patti May 17, 2017 - 10:00 am Reply

I am tracking my calories and nutrients. Can you please let me know the totals for the Smart Metabolizer Cocktail?

    • Team ALG May 17, 2017 - 10:10 am Reply

Patti, we don’t have an official total of calories because we don’t count them on this program, but it is roughly 250-300 calories.

  • Byrd July 13, 2017 - 2:08 pm Reply

Hi there – I am on day one of the 3 day detox. The morning Metabolizer was so filling that I’m having difficulty finishing mid-morning snack and lunch. Is it OK to have 2 of each these each day or is 3 of each a must?

  • Jan October 16, 2017 - 7:17 pm Reply

Hi! I have the same question as Byrd. I’m too full to drink all the 6 recommended drinks. Could I skip some? Any suggestions?

    • Team ALG October 18, 2017 - 4:45 pm Reply

If you are too full you can drink as little as 2 of each of them. Just do the best you can.

  • Rebecca Erwin November 16, 2017 - 3:06 pm Reply

I have been working out and eating extremely healthy for almost three months without much to show for it, so I decided to do the “old” one-day Fat Flush detox when I found out about the NEW Fast Flush Plan. I just finished the 3-day Smart Start, and this morning I was down 8 pounds after not losing any weight. I also love the updated additions of lecithin, coconut oil, chia seeds, and increased protein. I have a feeling my plateau is over…thank you!

    • Team ALG November 17, 2017 - 10:15 am Reply

Rebecca, we are delighted with your results! Congratulations on your 8 pounds lost!

  • Alex January 13, 2018 - 2:25 pm Reply

I am confused about the non-GMO sunflower. Is that seeds or are there granules of this somewhere as well? Thanks so much!

  • Lisa Miller January 29, 2018 - 3:20 am Reply

I am noticing feeling nauseous after the metabolizer cocktail. Is this normal?

    • Ann Louise Gittleman January 29, 2018 - 2:03 pm Reply

TeamALG here: Try cutting the amounts of the spices in half. This is not a common reaction.
