If you’re one of the one-in-three Americans walking around with a fatty liver, there’s a good chance you don’t even know about it!

A large number of people are asymptomatic at first, and liver enzymes can even appear normal on blood work.

The symptoms that do occur are often mild: fatigue, nausea, bloating, abdominal pain, cellulite, leg swelling and “brain fog” which allows this sneaky disease to progress without being noticed.

Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) is the most common chronic liver disease in the US, affecting almost 100 million people. It isn’t caused by alcohol or a virus, but is triggered by weight gain, poor diet (think refined sugars like high-fructose corn syrup and starches) and insulin resistance.

When your cells become resistant to insulin, your pancreas works overtime, secreting more and more insulin in an attempt to get blood sugar back in balance. This creates metabolic imbalances that lead to high levels of fatty acids in your blood. Your liver simply doesn’t produce enough bile to process this extra fat and starts storing it instead, leading to a fatty liver.

In this blog, learn more about Fatty Liver, what causes it, and how to fix it. I’ll share simple steps you can take to transform your fatty liver into a skinny liver so you can finally lose weight, regain your energy and improve your overall health and wellness!

The Veggies That BANISH FAT, FOG AND FATIGUE – FAST

If you find yourself feeling tired and foggy lately, your liver may be to blame. As many as 80% of women have fat buildup in the all-important organ, which causes a pileup of toxins that leave us feeling fatigued.

To the rescue: bitter foods. They help restore liver function by boosting the production of compounds that help flush fat from the liver. To get the benefits, aim to enjoy at least 2 cups of bitter greens, like arugula, mustard and dandelion greens, chard or watercress, each day.

Build Better Bile

If you’ve been diagnosed with fatty liver, then your liver has stopped processing fat and started storing it. It shuttles the excess toxins off to be stored in your fat cells, causing these cells to swell with inflammation and bring your fat burning to a screeching halt.

One of the keys to break this vicious cycle is to build more bile. Numerous studies show there is a strong relationship between choline deficiency and fatty liver, so I also believe choline supplementation is essential.

Little did I know when I helped to develop UNI KEY Health’s Bile Builder supplement that it would come to the rescue at such a time as this. Bile Builder contains 500 mg of choline, which is the physician recommended daily amount for helping the liver to break down fat. Bile Builder goes even further with its synergistic combination of choline, taurine, beet root, pancreatic lipase, ox bile and Collinsonia root (stone root) to help your body produce, thin out and move bile efficiently to support liver and gallbladder function.
