I started a Paleo diet to slim down for the big holiday reunion my extended family is having, but it’s been two weeks and my weight hasn’t budged. What gives?
Many diet plans fail to deliver fast results because they skip a crucial step that primes the body for weight loss: detox. If the liver is clogged with toxins and fatty deposits (as it often is, due to daily exposure to pesticides and pollution), it will be unable to metabolize stored fat efficiently. That’s why I have all my clients prepare their bodies for weight loss by following this advice for two weeks before starting any diet:
- Eat 1 to 2 cups of artichokes, beets, broccoli, onions or cabbage daily. Sulfuric compounds in these foods activate the body’s detoxifying enzymes and rev output of bile, a fluid used by the liver to break down fat.
- Combine 8 oz. of unsweetened cranberry juice and 56 oz of water in a pitcher each morning; sip 8 glasses per day. Plan compounds in the cran-water emulsify fat deposits in the liver and shift the organ into fat-burning mode.
After this prep period, the inches are sure to start falling off your frame.
